Google Advertising Privacy changes are in the wind…
“Some ads are based primarily on your search queries or on the content of the page you’re viewing. When providing ads tailored to your interests, we offer useful tools for you to view and manage the information that is being collected and used to serve ads.”

In addition to the controversial “adwords search wiki” are we also going to see the adwords search results altered by user’s cookies?
As an Adwords Professional, I decided to “opt out" of this program, as I’d rather see my ads served unaltered by my previous surfing habits.
After clicking this Opt out button we are taken to the next page, which warns us that this opt out is not permanent…
- Please note that if you use more than one type of browser or more than one computer to surf the Internet, you will have to opt out in each browser and on each computer that you use.
- If you delete this opt-out cookie, you will have to opt out again. Alternatively, Google offers options for you to permanently save your opt-out settings in your browser.
- You can opt out of other network advertising and third party ad servers’ cookies from the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page.
If you are like me, I need to clear my cookies frequently, like when I have an Adwords glitch, which I understand would wipe out my privacy preferences?
We are offered to install an addon to help us with that…
- click that plugin, if you are using firefox, then…
- then allow the plugin to install, then…
- restart firefox
Keep reading if you use Chrome or Safari, more helpful links are provided.
Hey, that wasn’t so hard was it?
On second thought, maybe it would be easier to default to privacy and offer the surfing surveillance crap and custom ad serving as an option?
Hey, have you heard of Google Voice yet? Getting inside our heads with call transcripts, sounds groovy, yeah… no?… oh no.
