Pay Per Click (PPC) Advertising What is Pay Per Click Advertising?

Pay Per Click (PPC) Advertising a segment of Search Engine Marketing (SEM), a method of advertising on search engines such as Google, Yahoo and MSN. PPC ads, or sponsored links, are displayed as the sponsored search results on the search engines, and the advertisers are charged by the search engine, per click.

Every time a person runs a search in the search engines they indicate what it is they are looking for with the words they use to search for it, these words or phrases are called "keywords". In PPC the advertiser gets to select the keywords they would like their ads to be displayed when searched by a potential client. This way, advertisers are able to select the exact audience that will see their ads.

Ads may be displayed and viewed numerous times, but an ad only costs money to the advertiser when someone clicks on it to view their website.
